B.Sc. Economics 

The B.Sc. Economics program at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFCE) is designed to equip students with a robust understanding of economic theories, quantitative methods, and analytical skills necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic economic landscape. This program blends rigorous academic learning with practical exposure, preparing graduates for diverse careers in finance, policy-making, business, research, and beyond.

Course Structure

The B.Sc. Economics curriculum spans four years (eight semesters) and covers a blend of foundational, core, and elective courses:

Year 1 – Foundation:

  • Introduction to Microeconomics

  • Introduction to Macroeconomics

  • Mathematics for Economics

  • Statistics for Social Sciences

  • Principles of Accounting

  • Computer Applications

Year 2 – Core Economics:

  • Intermediate Microeconomics

Year 3 – Advanced Topics:

Entry Requirements

Prospective students seeking admission into the B.Sc. Economics program must meet the following criteria:

  • SSCE/NECO/GCE: Minimum of five credits, including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two relevant subjects.

  • UTME: Candidates must select Economics, Mathematics, or related social science subjects in the entrance examination.

  • Direct Entry: Applicants with NCE, HND (in related fields), or equivalent qualifications may apply directly into 200 level, subject to departmental screening.
